Mary C. Wathen, CNM, MN   Mary C. Wathen, CNM, MN
Scope of Practice:
Midwife means “with woman”. As a certified nurse-midwife my view of medical care for women involves the whole person: body, mind and spirit. I provide competent care for women throughout the life cycle including prenatal care, labor and delivery assistance, post partum care, newborn care, well woman annual exams, and contraception counseling.

My philosophy of care includes building a mutually trusting relationship with my patients. While keeping safety paramount, I support my patient’s wishes regarding the kind of birth experience they desire.”

Skagit Valley Medical Center - Midwives
Nurse-midwives consider birth a natural event in women’s lives and view childbirth as a healthy, normal process. They intervene in this process only when it is clearly needed.
